CWAGS Scent Detective Trial

Thank you for entering See Spot Grin’s CWAGS Scent Detective trial! The trial is being held in the See Spot Grin classroom at Hog Dog Productions, 470 Ski Lane in Millersville, Maryland on Saturday, 11/5 and Sunday 11/6/22.. We’re looking forward to seeing you!

On Saturday, check-in begins at 12:00pm. Judge’s briefing at 12:30pm, after which we’ll begin running dogs.

On Sunday, check-in begins at 8:00am. Judge’s briefing at 8:30am, after which we’ll begin running dogs.

The running order will be available on the day of the event.

Read the Rules

We’re counting on you to help our trial run smoothing and efficiently. Please take time to read the CWAGS Scent Detective Rule Book prior to your arrival, and bring a copy with you to refer to in case you have any rules related questions while you’re at the trial. We’re happy to help you learn the ropes but please understand that pausing the trial to answer questions for which there is a reference in the rule book will slow down the entire trial day. For peak performance it’s also good practice to have an understanding of what to expect before you arrive.

Dog Policy & Crating

See Spot Grin is a small one room school house. No indoor crating or seating is available. All dogs must be remain crated in your vehicle throughout the trial, except when pottying or getting ready to search. Be sure you have what you need to keep yourselves and your dogs cool and hydrated. IF YOU NEED TO LET YOUR CAR IDLE TO TURN ON THE AC YOU MUST BE PARKED AT LEAST 20 FEET FROM ALL OTHER VEHICLES. If you aren’t comfortable with a vehicle idling next to yours, please move your vehicle. Please stay away from the tiny yellow house.

Food & Drink

Please plan to bring your own food and beverages.

Ribbons

Qualifying ribbons and title ribbons will be self serve.

Volunteers

As you know, trials can’t run without volunteers. We need a Judge’s Helper and a Scent Steward for each of our four classes.

The Judge’s Helper is responsible for timing each run and resetting any non-odor objects that may have been moved during a search. If you’re volunteering as Judge’s Helper for a class you’re entered in you will run your dog first.

The Scent Steward will place the hides as directed by the judge, and removing them at the end of the class. For obvious reasons, the Scent Steward cannot volunteer for classes they are entered in. You’ll find more details about being a Scent Steward here.

Let us know if you can help ASAP by submitting the form below. Thanks in advance for your efforts!!

YES, I’D LOVE TO HELP!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
